Surprised that Muamba wasn't in the U-21 squad announced the other day. Might be that Alex Mc has suggested to Pearce that he needs a rest or maybe it was due to Capello being at the game on Monday night?!

I thought the same, I did hear Stuart Pearce quoted as saying that expect some surprises in Capello's full squad - I don't think so myself but he couldn't be in the full squad could he?

Would be great news if he was, what a boost to his confidence that would be!

He deserves it IMO - he has come on leaps and bounds this season.

I can see it now, Muamba alongside Becks as he gets his 100th cap?

Here is a link to a quote from Pearce on the BBC website...

Don't be surprised if it happens - Capello was at St Andrew's on Monday and Muamba had one of his best games of the season (excluding a few of the wild shots at goal that is!).

Pearce just said he has not involved 1 or 2 players due to Capello wanting them in his squad.

I'm sure Lennon and Walcott are in there but I don't really see that as any surprise whereas Muamba would be.

I'm sure Capello was looking at Owen primarily but there weren't too many English-qualified players on view (4 on each side at kick off) so it wouldn't have been hard for him to keep check on them all and he would have known Muamba was already an established U-21 and pretty much an ever-present for us this season.

We'll know tomorrow I guess!

I reckon Ridgewell is due a call-up, he showed great goalkeeping abilities :P

As much as it would be brilliant for Muamba getting a call-up, lets not get carried away with what he can do. He still has a lot to learn, but if he plays as good as he did on Monday and keep improving like he has over the season then one day he will be a hell of a player.

Cappello might have been impressed by his ability to find space especially with his shooting as the one in the first half defied Einsteins law of gravity :D

maybe he's suspended for the next competitive game and therefore been given a rest. would love for it to be a call up to the full squad but i doubt it very much.

I read that pearce wanted to rest a few of the proven u'21s to give other young players a chance so it could be that too. Imagien he got into the full squad lol ! Although he showed some brilliant bits of play against newcaslte/

To be fair Agbonlahor has set up a shed load of goals for Villa this season, and I think he'll be a great addition to the England team.
